The Island of Doctor Moreau by H. G. Wells “But there are times when the little cloud spreads, until it obscures the sky. And those times I look around at my fellow men and I am reminded of some likeness of the beast-people, and I feel as though the animal is surging up in them. And I know they are neither wholly animal nor holy man, but an unstable combination of both.” ------------------ All are welcome - these are friendly casual discussions of works of fiction in a public setting.
I am posting this without a date. If there are enough people interested than we will do this but it will have to be in the afternoon because there is no way I am going to feel safe at night after the experience! :) If it has to be at night than I will welcome anyone who wants to take over as the host. Trapped in a Room with a Zombie St Louis would be a fun, horror-themed, meetup to try. The cost is $28.00. They do do discounts for larger parties but I will need a head count and you will need to pay them direct. http://www.roomescapeevents.com/about.html http://www.ksdk.com/story/entertainment/2015/07/07/escape-room/29816281/ • Up to 12 participants share a room with a chained zombie • Find clues and solve puzzles to locate the key, hidden in the room • Every 5 minutes, the zombie will get a little more room to reach you • Work together to find the key in 60 minutes • Remember to preregister and arrive 15 minutes early
I dream big!! I dream that a group of crafty fairy's will host an event that demonstrates how to make accessories and cos-play costumes. Halloween is not that far away and some of us would love to learn how to make simple accessories or cos-play costumes. All that is needed for this event are a few talented people who dabble in crafts and costumes. Anyone who would like to participate as a host please rsvp and we will gather to discuss a game plan.
Hey everyone! I’m seeing a lot of excitement for the upcoming book club meeting, and that there’s a great deal of interest in literature discussion. As such, I figured it might be a good idea to see if there’s any interest in a weekly meeting discussing short fiction in the sci-fi, fantasy, and horror genres, for those who have to miss a book club meeting or just want more stories to bite into. The times and places are undecided as of now, though looking at the calendar Wednesday evenings look pretty free as far as group events go, and meetings at casual places like bars or coffee shops sound like good spots, bar larger groups. Leave a comment if you’re interested or have a place/time preference for this activity. And if you have a story to suggest, just say so! Thanks, Joe.
