What we're about

We offer 2 types of opportunities for writing and creative social interaction:

1. Hamburg Creative Writing Workshops - paid creative writing workshops in English, held once Saturday per month. For committed beginners and those who wish to get back into their creative flow.

Each workshop is on a different topic such as:

kick-starting your creativity,
developing characters,
choosing point-of-view,
crafting dialogue,
plotting and planning,
and springing into creativity (idea mining) among others.
We spend these afternoons writing, critiquing, boosting creativity, working through common writing blocks, discussing craft, and setting goals.

Each workshop is capped at 10-12 participants. You need to become a member and RSVP on our meetup page or email: to get more information on price and location.

Taught by Elena Kaufman, a published writer and teacher with an MSt in Creative Writing from the University of Oxford and an MA in Drama from The University of Toronto. Her book of short stories LOVE BITES ( is published with Unbound, UK.

2. Hamburg Creative Writing Workshops - free writing group meets bi-monthly in a Hamburg cafe

We meet for a couple of hours, mainly on a Sunday, to sit in companionable quiet and work on our own projects. What you write is up to you - this isn't a workshop or a critique group - we're just here to provide company and accountability and help one another stay focused. This is a free event but please make sure you purchase something from the venue.

Run by Caroline Taylor, who also teaches the workshops. She has an MSt in Modern Languages and Literature from the University of Oxford and has just completed her second novel. Caroline runs our social writing group, and looks after our publicity and social media. She’s friendlier than she looks in her picture.
