What we're about

This is a group for everyone who is new to Hamilton: expats, immigrants or kiwis who just moved here. Let's get together and explore Hamilton (and surroundings), meet new people and cultures. We all know how difficult it can be to try and fit in in a new environment so "newbies unite!". All newbies need people with experience to show them the ropes, so yes, even when you're born and bred in Hamilton you are more than welcome to join us!!

Hamilton CBD Mural walk

Central Library

Hamilton has lots of fantastic murals, many of which are in the city centre. Some are in prominent places, some are hidden down back streets. They are all over the city and some of the best ones are in the CBD. I am inviting you to come for a walk with me to view some of these beautiful art works. Meet at outside of the library. We shall walk for about 90 minutes (slow pace.....more a meander really) and find some. Afterwards we can go find a cafe and go for lunch/coffee. 3 people minimum and 10 people maximum, including me. Will be cancelled if raining, snow, blizzard etc.

Keeping Our Kiwi Spirit Closer To Our Hearts

‘Keeping Our Kiwi Spirit Closer To Our Hearts’ Help People To Help Themselves and Others New Zealand Economies are in better shape for recovery than other countries. New Zealand citizens must be aware that these are unprecedented times. Our Government is doing their job well. Support them, New Zealand. As Kiwis we must not delude ourselves. We don’t want to be caught out like Italy. We don’t want Covid-19 spreading throughout New Zealand to the extent where our Medical Health systems are operating at full capacity and can no longer cope with increasing amounts of new cases. We must Get Ahead of The Spread. We must get that message across to our local communities. New Zealand citizens must take actions to truly convince themselves that they are fully aware of what is required of them in order to reduce the risk of creating more health casualties. We must get on top of this, for the Health of our citizens, for the future recovery of our National and Local Economies and Societies. Make sure that people and communities within your Local Cities and Towns are advised to remain calm if they are to witness throughout media, any Panic and Rioting happening in other countries around the World. This is not what New Zealand wants nor needs. How we as Kiwis act throughout this crisis now is critical. New Zealanders must remain strong for each other. These will be stressful times for us. We must help ourselves and others to remain healthy, physically and mentally, the best we can. We must trust in our local community spirit, our ability to come together and meet challenges. You will see throughout media, positive events happening in other countries … Public Acts of Kindness … Acts of Appreciation for Support Services … People united remaining strong for each other. That is the kind of Spirit we as Kiwis have got… The same Kiwi Spirit which we must keep throughout the crisis. Important 2020 checklist: If you see throughout news media, pandemonium occurring in other countries, it does not mean similar pandemonium is going to happen here in New Zealand… NOT if New Zealand citizens remain calm and strong for each other. Our Nation must support our Government, as well as our communities in Local Cities and Towns throughout New Zealand. If you start hearing increased levels of Police and Emergency Services sirens within our Cities or Towns, you must remain calm and be strong for each other. These increased levels of Emergency Services are to be expected. These Emergency Services will likely be responding to incidents of Public Health concern. Unfortunately, also to be expected, there will be increased levels of opportunistic criminal activity within our Cities and Towns. So look out for one another. Some people will need to put their political views on hold. NZ citizens will have to be wary of opportunistic acts of discrimination. Some people will think it is an appropriate time to undermine our Government’s ability to respond to this Global/National Health Crisis and the resultant Global/National Economic Crisis. However, Most New Zealanders will remain strong for each other. Most New Zealanders will support one another, ‘Keep Our Kiwi Spirit Closer To Our Hearts’ All the Best, New Zealand
