Mountainbike Lake Natoma! D12

  • May 9, 2014 · 1:00 PM
  • Sutter St. Light Rail Station

Ride Summary
Terrain: Rolling hills with a couple of hard (but short) climbs.
Distance: 12 Miles
Speed: 8 - 14 mph
Rider Level: D12 (Intermediate) <--LOOK!
Sweep: Yes

Join us for the 12 mile dirt loop around Lake Natoma. This ride is intended for people who can sustain 10 MPH or more on dirt. We tend to go kinda' fast. It should take no more than 2 hours. If you cannot maintain this pace, you are not being fair to the rest of the riders.

We leave the Lightrail Station promptly at 1:10, so if you're late, you're going to miss us! If you're just a little late, we usually regroup at the Aquatic Center at 1:35.

As always, helmets are required.

This event starts at the light rail station in the hope that you'll save gas, money and the environment by taking the train. The train costs $2.50 (cheaper than you can drive) and schedules can be seen here... http://sacrt.com/schedules/current/routes/R507.htm Just make sure your train says "Folsom" on it.

An RSVP is a Social Commitment. Your Hosts and Organizers go to great lengths and often personal expense to make these events fun and enjoyable for you. If you are unable to show up, please update your RSVP a minimum of 2 hours before the start time of the event.

Thanks to all for letting me give it a try! Sorry I lost you Terry! I am now looking for a better starter MTB and will look for some good beginner trails.

Thanks marsh for a fun ride. Thanks Chris for hanging back and guiding me through the trail my first time out there.

To all that are riding today, if you have a GoPro or similar, could you document the trail? I'm mostly interested in the entire "n" side. Otherwise, I'll try to get out there sometime to do it myself. I'll be at negro bar today around 5:30ish and could transfer the files. Call me[masked]

It's mostly of s side and little bit of n side. I would prefer a complete recording of n side. Thanks tho :)

This will be my first ride at this distance. I'd like to try it if that is ok. I would turn around and head back if I can't keep up with the group rather than slow everyone down. Let me know if this is ok. Thanks, Josh

Yes - do come out today. I'm not in a hurry. I'll keep you company.

Yesterday afternoon I came across a coiled up rattlesnake on the trail directly across the freeway from the auto-mall. It was on a blind corner and the only thing to do was keep pedaling and run it over. Be careful. Have fun while the rest of us are still at work.

We see em all the time. It's their natural habitat.
