What we're about

If you are interested in history and culture and enjoy walking, then this group is for you. Hampshire and its surrounding counties are full of amazing places which are rich in history. Some of them are hidden away on your doorstep! I want to connect you to the fascinating people, places and events from the past.

Walks will vary in length from 2 miles upwards and take place in both urban and rural environments. I will make the walks as interactive as possible to enable you to really connect with the landscape and sense of place.

All walks are £5 each and last at least 2 hours. Afterwards I will offer attendees the chance to attend either a meal or drinks depending on the day and time of the event. This gives you the chance to discuss the walk and make new friends. Walks will take place in Hampshire and the bordering counties of Wiltshire, Berkshire and Surrey. This group is open to all aged 18+.

My background – I am a trained walk leader with a passion for history and landscape and have led walks for many years. I set up Hampshire Walkers and Social Group in 2012 which currently has over 1000 members. This year I have decided to go self- employed and set up a separate meet up to focus on heritage walks.

I have a BA (Hons) in Art, Design and Media. I am currently studying for a Masters Degree in Cultural Heritage and Resource Management at the University of Winchester.

Terms and conditions- Walking is a very low risk activity. I advise that you wear appropriate footwear and clothing attire when attending. Please bring some food and drink, even if the walk includes a pub or café break. If you have an ongoing health issue, you will need to let the walk leader know so they can assess your fitness to walk. For your own and others' safety please listen to and follow the instructions of the walk leader. Though walking is inherently one of the safest outdoor activities, no activity is completely without risk and it is your responsibility to behave sensibly and to minimise the potential for accidents to occur. By joining this meet up you agree to abide by these terms and conditions.

All walks on this meet up are organised by Yellow Canary http://www.yellowcanary.co.uk
