Winchester Road, Chawton Alton GU34 1SD
Join me in a walk to celebrate the 241st anniversary of Jane's birth and 200th anniversary of the publication of Emma. After the walk, we will join in the celebrations at her former home in Chawton. There is free entry to the house and grounds with complimentary tea and mince pies and carols around the piano!
This 4.5 mile walk allows us to walk in Jane's footsteps taking us through beautiful countryside from Chawton to the village of Farringdon where Jane used to take tea with friends and catch up on the gossip!
On the way we will visit the local church where Jane's mother and sister are buried. In Farringdon we will visit the famous 1000 year old Farringdon yew which stands in the local church yard. After walking around the village, we will make our way back via the old disused railway line back to Chawton village.
Parking - use free council car park opposite the house.
