BRICK LANE, also known as Banglatown.........

is the heart of the Bangladeshi community in London, but is more than that!!! It has become famous for its curry houses, bagel shops, weekly market, art, fashion and GRAFITTI!!!!!

A stroll around the area should provide many photo opportunities to practise Street Photography - people and anything which catches the eye - and there will be lots to catch the eye!!

We will meet at 11.15am at Liverpool Street Station - at the east entrance at the top of the escalators leading to Bishopsgate - we will walk up Bishopsgate, north and turn right into Brushfield St and take a wander through Spitalfield market into Brick Lane. the market and then walk north to Brick Lane Market, hopefully getting some shots of Brick lane life, scenery and of course GRAFITTI.

Brick Lane Market is at the northern end of Brick Lane but we'll then walk south and also try to visit the old Truman Brewery site where there are other markets with food, antiques, antique clothing and art. We should end up 3-4 ish and for those that want we could grab a curry or a drink, depending on how people feel.

I have found an audio guide to Brick lane:

http://www.soundmap.co.uk/london-walks.html

which you can download and put on your ipod/mp3 player which is worth a listen.

Challenges:

1) Street Art picture - Graffiti

2) Street Life - candid shot of people or otherwise.

3) Street Objects - any interesting street object / scene / furniture.

Look here for ideas:

SUGGESTIONS - I would suggest for those with an SLR - a standard lens (50mm) or low power zoom as we will be photographing the street scene which will be relatively close by. A wide angle used with a bit of imagination might also give a special shot. We will need to keep eyes open all the time for people shots and need to be fast as there will be a lot of people around and a lot of moving around. Look out for quirky signs, walls, windows and stalls. Black and White might work well with some subjects.

This is a photography meetup and I hope that everyone attending will upload at least one picture and PLEASE comment on other pics uploaded - this way everyone gets feedback and it makes it fun.

Remember whatever camera you have - come along - a good photograph depends on you the photographer, the subject and how you take it - not the equipment you have. Hopefully there will members with different levels of experience who will share this and we can all learn tips from each other so if you want tips - PLEASE ASK - if you have tips to offer - PLEASE OFFER.

Cost is £1 meetup fee which will go to the Group Organizer who has paid the subscriptions to keep this group going.

Make sure you come along as I think this one will be brilliant!!!!!

To get to Liverpool Street - either use map or follow signs (or walk east and hope!) or from Waterloo - tube - Bakerloo to Oxford Circus and change Central eastbound to Liverpool St, or Northern line to Tottenham Court Rd and then Central Line east to Liverpool St - or Bus - number 26 from Waterloo (Waterloo Rd) - goes all the way> When we finish we will be at the southerly end of Brick Lane - nearest Underground will be Aldgate East (District Line - change at Embankment for Waterloo).

I have done a map of this event with contact details - please read this and print off to bring with you.
