I'll be a newbie so will be very happy to go with the consensus of those in the know! I lived in Emsworth for a little while a few years back, so a revisit is always welcome.

With a little over a week to go until decision day folks, it looks like Emsworth to Langstone is in the lead for this year's End of Year Walk!! If you fancy doing a different walk, please get voting for your favourite!!!!

    • Maggie

Emsworth without the wading/paddle sounds good to me! Might be a bit cold....on the other hand might wake us up after the post Christmas slump 😉

      2 · November 26

  • Sue G.

Emsworth sounds like a great idea to me.

    1 · November 25

  • Simon W.

Emsworth without the impromptu paddle is looking favourite at the moment!!!

    November 21

  • Dee

Hi Simon, I'd love to do the Emsworth to Langstone walk, so my vote goes to that one!

    November 20

  • Simon W.

Hi All!! There is still a few weeks left to vote for your favorite walk of 2016 - Decision Day will be 7th December (day after the cut off date for votes) So Don't Delay, Register your Vote TODAY!!!!

Emsworth is still my choice, Arundel would be a bit too far for me, I think.

  • jane m.

Think I might be able to make this but my favourite place to walk is Arundel, beautiful

    October 30

    • Simon W.

Thanks Jane, Arundel could be a late contender and we would have the benefit of the Black Rabbit, although it may be a little to chilly this time of year to sit outside!!

      October 31

  • Alice

Hi Simon, happy with any of those choices, but I haven't done the Emsworth or Wittering walks so either of those would be good.

    1 · October 31

    • Simon W.

Thanks Alice, will add them to the list!!

      October 31

  • Mark B.

Sadly I can't attend this walk as I have to work on the 30th. The whole team at work wanted the same day :(

    October 26

    • Simon W.

Can relate to that - extra beer @ the beer 🍺 festival then!!

      October 27

    • Mark B.

I feel a compensatory ale might indeed be in order. :)

      1 · October 27

  • Ellen H.

West Wittering is a good walk

    October 26

  • Gill K

Jolly Sailor, ( Rainbow walk ) was very enjoyable

Hi All! An update for you on the current leading choices for our End of Year Walk:-

Emsworth to Langstone Circular (without the inadvertent Paddle!)

Rowlands Castle / Stansted Park (the Pavillion will be closed this time of year)

    West Wittering/East Circular

Canoe Lake to Old Portsmouth Circular

Portsmouth Eastern Shore/Milton Common Circular (coastal defence works are now complete so all the fencing has gone which greatly impacted our walk in the summer)

If you have any choices or walks you particularly enjoyed such Q E Country Park or Jolly Sailor Bursledon (our Rainbow Walk!) to name but two, please get voting as we only have 6 weeks until decision day!!

  • Sue G.

Agree that picking a walk with a good pub somewhere along the way is an excellent idea. Emsworth walk was lovely and should be reasonably dry underfoot which perhaps is important in December. But I am really flexible.

    October 15

  • Janet

I didn't do the Emsworth walk previously, but it sounds good, so that one would be nice. But otherwise I don't really mind where we go as long as we are walking!

    October 15

  • Simon W.

Hi All!! We need some more votes from you all as to your favourite walk so a fair decision can be made for the venue for the end of year walk!!!

    October 15

    • Christina

I've only been on one which was around Petersfield lake - so that probably doesn't count anyway!

      October 15

  • Alice

The problem Simon, is that you've done so many good walks! Round Idsworth & Chalfont is lovely. Why not pick your favourite country pub for lunch and do a walk that ends up there? Mary's idea of round Emsworth sounds nice, and I seem to remember that there's some nice walks round Rowlands Castle?

    September 10

  • Mary

I really don't mind where the walk is. I would love to do one Emsworth way (as I've not managed one yet!) but otherwise the canoe lake to Old Portsmouth would be my choice

    August 20

  • Simon W.

Please remember I need your votes for your favourite walk of the year for this event - at the moment we have 17 members RSVPd with only 6 votes!!!!

    August 20

  • Sue G.

Having only joined comparitively recently, I have looked back over all the walks you have done this year and apart from wishing I had joined sooner (!) can I put in a vote for doing the East Head walk as our end of year walk?

    1 · August 9

    • Simon W.

You can Sue - that was a great afternoon when we did that walk & one most of us didn't want to leave! We may do the remain part of Chi Harbour at some point - Birdham Pool to East Head

      August 9

  • Marisa

Hi Simon. Can I vote more than once or again and again for the same walk ha ha ha lol x

    1 · August 9

    • Simon W.

You can Marisa but I will only count your vote once for the same walk!!! P.s I don't recall seeing your RSVP on the list yet!!

    • Marisa

      Opps! Just did :-)

      1 · August 9

  • Maggie

I love our walks that take in some walking, chatting and social elements so I suppose that would be our 'city' walks - Portsmouth or Chichester and we have done a few of those. It might be too cold to do a country walk without some kind of drink! I guess as it is just after Christmas and approaching the New Year we will all be in festive spirit so a walk and pub is probably the best solution! I will be happy with whatever is chosen :-)

    2 · August 9

  • Christina

What a good idea Simon! However, if it's towards Portsmouth or Southampton then that's me out as I wouldn't go to those.

    August 8

    • Simon W.

You should come on down Christina, you never know what you're missing!!!!:-)

      1 · August 8

    • Christina

I try to come to the more local walks, Portsmouth is a right pain to get too as far as I'm concerned - I've been to canoe lake before and even though it was nice, I wouldn't want to fight with the traffic to get there!! Southampton is just too far from my end. However, hope to see you at some more in the future :o)

      August 9

  • Simon W.

Looks like canoe lake - old Portsmouth is going to be the early runaway leader!!!

    2 · August 7

  • Sue W.

Hi. Didn't make it to Canoe Lake walk before so would be good to have the chance again but happy to go where ever the majority. Sue

    3 · August 7

  • Karen

Having just joined the group I am happy with the Canoe Lake to Old Portsmouth choice. Will be good to revisit old haunts from the past!

    2 · August 7

  • Simon W.

Thanks Marisa & Mark that's 2 up for canoe lake to old Portsmouth!! Ps 50p a walk next year!!!

    2 · August 6

  • Mark B.

I'll second Marisa's suggestion, she may have mentioned pubs, I can't be sure though :)

    2 · August 6

    • Marisa

Mark, I did mention PUBS. Happy day :-)

      August 6

  • Marisa

First of all a big thank you to our Simon for all your effort organising all the enjoyable and interesting walks in various locations and STILL haven't ask us fellow walkers for the contribution towards the cost of running the site ( myself personally and I'm sure any of our fellow walkers would be more than happy to contribute to every of our walks in the future )
My vote for the last walk of this year is The Canoe Lake to Old Portsmouth.Walking along the seafront, passing through the places full of history, walking along the Millennium Walk Way while watching the busy activities in the solent and a plus is there are so many pubs and restaurants to choose from either on the Spice Island or in Gunwharf to celebrate our last walk of the year. We had a good big upstairs table in The Spice Island Inn on the previous walk and I thought it was good! Enjoy walking x
