If you missed last meetup and are itching to find out this month's homework, without further ado, we present to you:
Meetup #5: Anything Helps
Guest hosted by Rene Cruz and Katy Holton
It started with an Instagram post that Rene stumbled upon — a pile of homeless signs. We got to thinking about how every homeless sign is essentially a handwritten expression of vulnerability. There is a kind of craft in each homeless person's handwriting, personality, pleas and hidden stories that are translated most often through found objects like a marker and piece of cardboard.
We're asking you to create your own "help" sign stating what you need help with in your own personal life. It could be a habit, a vice, or even as simple as putting dirty clothes in the hamper; whatever it is, it should be something you struggle or need help with.
We encourage y'all to use the tools that a homeless person would. This assignment is meant to be a personal challenge. Face it and embrace it!
Ready... Set... Bonus points for thriftiness,
-Katy, Tim and Rene
