New York Blood Center's "Hike for Life"

  • May 5, 2013 · 1:00 PM

Long Island Greenbelt Trail Conference (LIGTC) and New York Blood Center (NYBC) invite you to join us in our 7th Annual HIKE FOR LIFE – May 5, 2013 (Sunday)

Please select a hike based on the level of your experience or level of adventure:

3 miles – Sunken Meadow State Park, Field 4 – 3:30pm (perfect for family & friends, meets the long distance hikers for the final stretch)

5 miles – Smithtown Landing Country Club parking lot – 3:00pm (the northern end, one-way to Sunken Meadow, at a moderate pace)

11 miles – Greenbelt office/Blydenburgh County Park, 102 New Mill Rd, Smithtown, NY 11787 – 1:00pm (a bit more challenging, complete the northern third of the Greenbelt Trail)

32 miles – Heckscher State Park, Field 7 – 6:30am (for the truly hardy hiker, complete entire Greenbelt Trail to Sunken Meadow)

To register for any of the hikes, please visit:

http://support.kintera.org/hikeforlife
Entry fee of $20 per hiker is the same for all hike distances ($25 after 4/30; $10 child/student).

All proceeds raised will help fund NYBC’s lifesaving mission through scientific research, medical education, and community outreach.

To create a personalized online donation form, or for financial questions, please contact Wade Zamechek, at [masked].

Non-hiking volunteers also needed: picnic assistance, car shuttles, publicity, find corporate sponsors, spread the word about HFL, sponsor a hiker, make a financial contribution to NYBC, & much more! To volunteer, please email Natalie at [masked] or call[masked].

For hike or event questions, please email HFL Coordinator Shari at [masked]

For info, please view http://groups.google.com/group/hike-greenbelt-32 or call/text[masked]

On Facebook, like our page “Hike for Life LI”, or friend “Hike Greenbelt”
Hike for Life (HFL) is a fundraiser for NYBC and also promotes awareness of the need for blood donations, especially during summer months when supplies tend to decrease. LIGTC organizes this annual event as a way to give back to the local community.

NEXT TO YOUR RSVP Let us know how many miles you will be attempting or if you are volunteering.

Liability Waiver:

You agree to participate in this event completely at your own risk and to take full responsibility for your own safety and well being, including those of your guests.

I might be away in Early May , but if I do it, the 3 miles will be enough . I will have to get back to you. I will be able to donate again in late April ,so NY Blood Center will get some "mileage " out of me in May even if it is not from my feet .
