What we're about

This is a group meeting weekly for kirtans at Forrest's home (RSVP for address & directions), with Forrest and Nick on first and third Wednesdays, Jivananda Yoga bringing their Hare Krishna energy on the second Wednesday and Sufi Dances of Universal Peace on fourth Wednesday.

Hanuman Kirtana Intention
K – Kirtan stimulates & illuminates all souls. Hanuman Kirtana embraces all lineages and is not specific to any spiritual path, religion, teaching, guru, or deity. All are honored! Our focus is on the rich devotional musical heritage of India. We will sing spiritual and devotional music from all traditions.
I – Inner work is facilitated by chanting the names of the gods and goddesses and resting in silence.
R – Regular weekly kirtans are the goal: informal, high energy, interactive chanting evenings elevate us to a level of community consciousness.
T – Training is unnecessary. We all learn as we go, & we share as we learn.
A – Awakening the spirit takes time. If this is your first kirtan, be welcomed.
N – Nobody will be turned away. We embrace all participants and deeply encourage them to participate on a level where they find comfort. Dance, sing, chant the mantras, or just listen. If you are inspired to lead a chant, or bring a musical instrument please check with Forrest beforehand.

Let’s join our voices and share the heartfelt vibrations of kirtan.
Namaste!

Note: if you know of any kirtans or related events that would be of interest to our group, please start a 'Discussion' or contact Forrest to post the info on the Upcoming Events listing. The more chanting, the better!

Dances of Universal Peace with Nick Baker

Treehouse

Sufi Dances are led by Nick Baker, Ahad, and Widad. The chants that are sung come from a wide variety of traditions, including Buddhist, Muslim, Hindu, Sufi, Zoroastrian, Christian and others. The movements in the circle dances that accompany the chants are easy to learn, but the combination of chanting and dancing lead to a beautiful energy that is then shared with everyone in the circle. Tapping the traditions of many spiritual paths, sacred chants heal and transform us through their blissful energy. All are welcome and encouraged to sing, dance and take in the uplifting energy. No musical training is necessary. Bring who you are to this sacred container and let your heart open. A time of fellowship will follow the chants. Please bring a treat to share!

Chant with Nick and Forrest

Let the chanting continue! Chants from all traditions welcome, an emphasis on kirtan, including traditional kirtans and chants we create ourselves. Express yourself with your voice, and enjoy the deep silence that we rest in between the chants. Nick will often end the evening with the Hanuman Chalisa. We will share some tea and treats and visit with each other after the chanting ends. Whether it's your first time or you've come before, welcome! Please RSVP for directions and to let us know that you're coming. Namaste, Forrest
