Sweetwater Creek State Park is located 15 miles west of Atlanta. They recently added 2 new trails for us to explore.
We will meet at the picnic tables in front of the Interpretive Center. Hike starts promptly at 9 AM.
We will start with hiking the YELLOW trail, ORANGE trail and the newly added BLUE trail. The ORANGE trail added a new section as well. The 3 trails combined will give us roughly 6 miles of moderate elevation. Next up is the RED trail. The RED trail is a beautiful 1 mile stretch along the river with plenty of opportunities to dip into the creek. We will take our lunch break on the rocks in the river at the end of the RED trail. After lunch we will hike the WHITE trail clock wise for about 3.5 miles back to the Interpretive Center.
You may want to print out a copy of the route and the map as there will not be a sweeper on this hike.
Bring your hammocks and refreshments if you plan to chill out by the lake afterwards.
