What we're about

How Does Happy Hour Guitar Work?

I realize many people don't know how Happy Hour Guitar works because there is nothing like it in NYC, and anywhere else as far as I know.

Happy Hour Guitar is a unique guided jam in NYC, beginners are welcome as well as intermediate and advanced players.

Beginners must know basic chords on the guitar, they usually work on their chord changes, strum patterns and they always leave knowing more than they came in with from watching and getting tips other players in the room.

Intermediate and advanced players have a lot of room to expand on their playing and jam at their own level, for example if they're familiar with improvising on Pentatonic scales there are suggestions on which scales to use and fret positions in the songs, or you can do your own “thing”, many do and it sounds awesome!
It’s real great, everyone plays at their own pace and is respectful of each other, you’re NEVER put on spot! We all follow the songs and chord charts on the projection wall, like being in the movies or playing karaoke for guitar in a group.

There are the “regulars” that have been coming for many years, like at an old neighborhood bar, they roll in with their favorite guitars, park their beer cans and proseccos by their chairs and jam the night away! And, yeah, everyone knows their name 😎🎸 :)

So, this is one of the most friendly jams you’ll ever find in the city because we include and honor everyone’s presence which makes for an incredible supportive environment for guitarists, old or new! And, we have a ton of fun, have I mentioned that?!

The jam happens at NYC Guitar School and acoustic guitars are provided but feel free to bring your own and let me know if you need an electric guitar or a bass and I’ll have one for you!

I hope you can make it this Friday, 6-8p, it’s $25 at the door, BYOB. Cheers!
