When you're organising a meetup you never know if you're able to find another interesting speaker for next months meetup, but we think we have succeeded again :) This time we are very happy to have Hui Jing Chen from Singapore. 🎉
In the past few years we have seen a lot of developments on things like CSS grid, flexbox, and shapes. It‘s great that browsers are now adopting these changes faster than ever.
This is a talk for all you (UX) designers and developers who want to know more about CSS layout that you can use in your websites today. ✨🤘
You're welcome from 7 pm onwards, we start at 7:30.
This meetup is free! 💸
Note: Hui Jing's talk will have a lot of similarity with the talk she will be doing at the Mozilla Dev RoadShow the day before.
Tickets for that event are free too!
Web Layouts 🎙
For a while now, we've been seeing websites that utilise very similar layouts, the standard full bleed hero image, followed by some text, usually in 3 columns, maybe throw in a few icons for good measure. CSS grid, together with other layout specific properties like Flexbox, writing-mode and CSS shapes, has the potential to change all that. This talk aims to show you how when used in combination, these modern CSS layout techniques open up a myriad of possibilities for responsive designs that were not possible before.
Hui Jing Chen (https://twitter.com/hj_chen) is a self-taught designer and developer based in Singapore. Reducing lines of code in her web projects makes her extremely happy. She used to play basketball full-time and launched her web career in the downtime between training sessions.
She is an absolute expert on CSS grid and Chinese typography and besides that she is also active in the Singaporean Web community.
