Thank you Harold. The Medici Fountain (La fontaine Médicis) in the Luxembourg Gardens was built in 1630 by Marie de' Medici, the widow of King Henry IV of France. It fell into ruins during the 18th century, but in 1811, at the command of Napoleon Bonaparte, the fountain was restored by Jean Chalgrin, the architect of the Arc de Triomphe. The sculptures depict the giant Polyphemus surprising the lovers Acis and Galatea.

This is lovely!! Beautivul lght! It feels a bit tilted, but maybe it will straighten after my next glass of Chardonnay.

Marianne, I know what you mean. I remember leveling the camera when I took this shot but I went back and looked at the original, un-cropped version again using the Lightroom level function, and it is level on the horizontal plane. Any slight change I make to the level of the image makes it look really off. I think what we may have is an optical illusion. There are an equal number of posts (9) showing on each side of the pool but there is about 2-3 extra feet of wall on the left giving it an unbalanced look. I suspect that my camera was not perfectly perpendicular to the sides of the pool. I remember focusing on centering the statues at the end of the pool and I need to pay more attention to the edges when I'm composing. In any event, the next glass will make it seem level I'm sure.

I struggle with a similar problem. Should I take a picture that IS level or one that LOOKS level. It's still a lovely crisp, clear image with some oak in the nose...errrrh, I mean beautiful reflections.
