Hartford Area Humanists next monthly meeting will be on Tuesday, July 24 at Wood-n-Tap in Rocky Hill. Join us for drinks and conversation at 6:30 pm. A member reading, a brief business meeting, dinner, and our guest speakers will all start at 7:00 pm.

This month, our guest speakers will be Aaron Romano and Jason Ortiz. Mr. Romano is the the general counsel of the Connecticut Chapter of the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws. During his 19 years of practice Attorney Romano has been involved in several landmark decisions that impact the rights of cannabis users in our state. He will talk with us about the origins of cannabis prohibition, with specific regard to racial discrimination.

Jason Ortiz is a political activist and a co-chair of the Policy Committee of the Minority Cannabis Business Association. Mr. Ortiz has been fighting to end the war on drugs since he first heard the words "school to prison pipeline." He will address the social justice issues regarding cannabis prohibition and the current business climate.

Come join us for what is certain to be a fascinating evening.

Those individuals who wish to make a contribution to the Foundation Beyond Belief Campaign to support agencies providing legal and social support to families that have been separated at our southern border can bring a check to this event.

Also, please note our new location for this meeting!
