Hike Kuliouou Ridge Saturday Morning (Intermediate++)

  • Feb 22, 2014 · 8:30 AM
  • This location is no longer available

View of Diamond Head

Description: This is a hike with everything!  Views, a good workout, decent parking and close to town.  The rewards include fabulous views of both the leeward and windward coasts.  Afterwords, we will head into town for some cheap eats.

Distance/Elevation:  We're looking at a 4.5 mile out-and-back with 1700' of ascent.  Intermediate ++ due to elevation change.  It's a good workout.

Panoramic view from the top

Directions:  From Honolulu, head east on the H1.  Continue onto HI-72 for about 3.9 miles.  Turn left onto Kuliouou Road, for 0.4 miles.  Turn right to stay on Kuliouou Road for 0.6 mi.  Turn right onto Kalaau Place.  Look for parking, meet at the end of the cul-de-sac.  Google directions here.

Pic of Trailhead

Dangers: Some steep drop-offs, slippery tree roots. Good hiking gear essential.

Dogs: Are welcome (always on leash)
