This extended Makapu'u trail begins at the very base of Oahu's easternmost ridge at the Kapaliokamoa Breakwater and climbs to a rock formation above Kaupō Cove (Makai Pier). Visible points of interests include Makapu'u Beach, Sea Life Park, Kāohikaipu Island State Seabird Sanctuary, Mānana (Rabbit) Island, Kaupō Cove, and northerly views of Waimānalo.

Sunrise Beach Lot is the 2nd entrance into Sandy Beach (coming from town). We will carpool from there .75 miles to the trailhead.
Recommendations: 2L or 2 bottles of water, hat, gloves, pole, hiking shoes, windbreaker.
Dangers: Rocky trail exposed to the sun, trip hazards, brief dangerous drop offs, potentially high winds, some slippery conditions.
