The Healdsburg Community Band is your local concert band and is made up entirely of volunteers. The band consists of about 40 players currently playing flutes, oboe, clarinets, saxes, trumpets, trombones, euphoniums, tubas, french horns and percussion. We always welcome new members and right now are especially needing percussionists and clarinets. We would gladly welcome a bassoonist, but really ANY instrumentalists that play concert band instruments are welcome. There are no auditions; we are all here to have fun and make beautiful music together. If you play or perhaps played but have been idle for a while (some of us were idle for over 20 years), we would love to have you join us. You do need to know how to read music. have a good basic knowledge of your instrument and be willing to attend rehearsals regularly as well as perform concerts. Players from high school age up are welcome. If you have questions you can always contact our organizer directly.
We practice every Tuesday night in Healdsburg during the season (September-May) and have six to seven concerts during the year. Join the band or come to our concerts and support local musicians!!
Our concerts include Veteran's Day, Christmas/Holiday concerts, a Pops concert in the Spring (performed at the Raven Theater in Healdsburg), and two "end of season" performances, the last of which is always in the gazebo at the downtown Healdsburg square and features band member favorites from other concerts. Every other year we hope to continue going down to the Golden Gate Park Concert Band Festival (we played last year and had a ton of fun!) Other playing opportunities have included playing the National Anthem at the Giant's Game in SF and the "high-stepping" HCB marching band performances at the Cloverdale Citrus Fair. Please visit our webpage for on-going information as well.
