Meeting on 1/6 rescheduled for 1/13 due to bad weather and the library being closed.

Continued discussions on Health at Every Size(R). Try to check out one resource, (book, blog, video) on one of the HAES principles to share at the next meet-up. I personally am going to be looking through 'The Diet Survivor's Handbook' and 'When Women Stop Hating their Bodies' over the next few weeks so I can share something I learn.

I posted the link to the video on the[masked] Minnesota Semi-Starvation Experiment that was done during World War II to measure the changes in physical ad psychosocial functions from prolonged calorie deficiency. I think it is a good depiction of what happens when we try to diet.

Sorry I can't be there. I love the HAES concept and have been trying to do it myself. Would love to attend a group. I usually live near K-zoo, but am in Ohio for work for the next few months. Would like to stay in the group so I can possibly go to the next one if i am in town.

Hello everyone: Wanted to let you know about a free webinar that Jon Robison, PhD will be presenting this Friday at noon EST. Here are the details and the link: Weight and Health - Here is the alternative: Friday 12 noon - Free Webinar

This will consist of a critique of our current weight/health paradigm, an intro to HAES and a brief intro to out worksite Health For Every Body program which a number of folks on these lists have honored us by facilitating in the last year or two around the country.
Of course this will be old hat for the folks on these lists but in case you know of anyone who might benefit from this kid of a review - please feel free to pass along the information - thanks so much and take care - (and for those of you living in the presently greatly expanded arctic tundra) stay warm -Jon

Although I would still come out to a meetup with everyone Monday evening despite the weather, I am going to be keeping an eye on the Kzoo Public Library site to see if they are going to close due to the weather. If they stay open, do we still want to meet? If they close can we reschedule for the following Monday (1/13)?

Go Ellen for having a body positive interview on your show. We need to see more of this! Message: Diets don't work, the media is trying to make us all look like 15 year old models, and most importantly of all, women need to start loving their bodies.
