Babs Carryer is a serial entrepreneur, educator and writer about entrepreneurship. She blogs about entrepreneurship on New Venturist (http://newventurist.com/). Babs has taught entrepreneurship at Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) for 15 years. For the last seven years at the University of Pittsburgh, Babs has taught the Benchtop to Bedside (http://www.oed.pitt.edu/) new technology commercialization course. Babs was embedded entrepreneur for CMU’s Project Olympus (http://olympus.cs.cmu.edu/) and innovation advisor for CMU’sInstitute for Social Innovation (http://heinz.cmu.edu/institute-for-social-innovation/index.aspx). She was director of training and faculty development at the National Collegiate Inventors and Innovators Alliance (NCIIA (http://nciia.org/)). Babs is President of Carryer Consulting (http://www.carryer.com/) and co-founder of LaunchCyte (http://www.launchcyte.com/), with a portfolio of five healthcare companies. Babs has a Masters in from Heinz College at CMU and a BA from Mills College in CA. She gets up every morning thinking about how best to stimulate and support entrepreneurship in our region.
