Did you know that more than 48 MILLION people have hearing loss?!
Being deaf often means being part of a unique community that hearing people are not part of. Hearing people routinely go and socialize at events where they think little of having to listen and hear. This is a group for those of us in between: those of us who are hard of hearing, late deafened, orally deaf, use hearing aids and/or cochlear implants. We live and work in a hearing world and know very little or no sign. We are able to hear to do our jobs but are limited socially when our friends want to go to the movies or a concert, etc. Captioning helps but isn't always available or easily accessible. Let's get together and just talk. It'll be nice to know that there are others out there who are "straddling the divide."
