What we're about

There are two things we share without question as human beings; the cycles of birth & death. It is impossible for one to exist without the other. Embracing and preparing for our inevitable death no matter what stage of life we're in help diminish the anxiety and fear and offers us a more expanded life experience.

The Heart-of-Dying offers us a forum to discus any and all questions surrounding conscious dying, such as rituals, ceremony and traditions (from cultures around the world), living life reviews (healing relationships & making amends), to bucket list or not to bucket list, body preparation, exploring our legacy (story), planning & advanced directives, living wills and end~of~life preferences.

When we hold substantive discussions within our families and in our communities about dying and end~of~life preferences, we suffer less, and our quality of life remains our focus. Once we realize at a soul level that there is no such things as your suffering or my suffering, only our suffering, healing becomes a truly communal experience.

Coventry Branch - Cleveland Heights Library

Exploring the Heart of Dying - through the Heights Library system will begin hosting a Death Literacy series to be held the 4th Sunday of each month from 2-4pm. This series is in addition to the already established 2nd Tuesday 7:30-8:30pm discussion group. We will be hosting different topics, garnering wisdom from local experts on death and dying, palliative and hospice care, we can expect to hear from attorneys and patient advocates, discuss all things advanced planning, learn about compassionate caregiving, watch and discuss pertinent documentaries, green burials, ceremony, ritual and so much more. As members requested presentations and educational workshops we naturally moved away from the smaller group led, intimate discussions we began over 3 years ago. We feel each is important and so expanded our community offerings to include both.
