Free breath Yoga!

Park Church

This class practices yoga in a chair. If you are new to yoga, this weekly breath yoga class is the best way to learn. Every Thursday this breath practice starts at 5:30pm. Park Church security request us to arrive after 5:10pm. Please honor their request. Thank you. Unless we have a substitute, our instructor is Susan and she's great! This class we focus more on the breath as we do over 90% of this yoga class seated in the chairs provided. Feel free to bring a water bottle, an extra set of socks for after class if you go barefoot, or bring socks that have rubber/grips on the bottom to wear in class. Parking downtown between 5:10pm and 5:30pm can be tricky. Most meters are free after 5pm away from Monroe Center avenue... If availble, use Ransom street entrance for Park Church's gated parking. Gate will open for free if you hold the button while saying "Here for yoga." Enter security through main glass doors facing Fulton St, say hi to Tom at security, and then Follow way finding signs to Merriam Hall. *new Attendee tips* 1) When the instructor says "sigh" she's asking us to exhale audibly 2) Every class ends with "Sha-va-sina" _ This key component of yoga allows us to restore and retain the yoga poses we did in class. Here is a wiki link to learn more about shavasana https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shavasana ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shavasana ) 3) After shavasana our instructor probably will say a few words and close with saying "Namaste" This is the traditional closing of most yoga classes and has many translations. One of the translations we prefer is "the light in me honors the light in you" _ So the proper response to our instructor is to respond "in kind" and repeat the word Namaste as you would be responding, "My light also honors the light in you."
