What we're about

In August of 2011, a group of meditators in Washington Heights got together and decided to form a community for Northern Manhattan under the guidance of James Loney. We called ourselves "Heights Meditation." Since then, Heights Meditation has grown into Heights Meditation & Yoga under the guiding light of James Loney, Amy Davis & Kim Thai. We are a 501(c)3 neighborhood organization dedicated to bringing the practice of meditation to everyone interested in integrating more clarity, equanimity, and peace-of-mind into their lives.

Our web address is: http://www.HeightsMeditationYoga.org

Our email: HeightsMeditationYoga@gmail.com

Unaligned with any particular school of meditation, all Upper Manhattan residents who are interested in breaking through the isolation of meditating alone while also sharing new techniques and approaches to enhance their private meditation practice are welcome to join. It is inspiring and important work we go about and we invite you to be a part of it! Everyone, beginner and experienced meditator alike, is welcome!

So please join us!! We meet everyday of the year at the Cornerstone Center, most holidays included.

Our schedule at Cornerstone Center (West 189th and Bennett Avenue):

Monday through Friday at 7:00 a.m. to 7:30 a.m.

Saturday at 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.

Sunday at 7:00 p.m. to 7:45 p.m.

Our schedule at Hudson View Gardens Lounge (Walk to the west corner of 183rd and Pinehurst Avenue, down the driveway and second door on the right. The sign reads "The Lounge."):

Wednesday at 5:30am for 20-30 minutes.

{Please do not be put off if it appears as though no one but the moderator will be in attendance as most Heights Meditators chose the days that best suit their schedules and just show up. Hope to see you soon!}

Please sign up here: https://www.heightsmeditationyoga.org/daily-meditation-schedule-and-sign-up-sheet Heights Meditation morning sessions aim to help you to start the day firmly established on a stable platform, centered in being, clear of mind, full of quiet, good intent. If that sounds like a happier and more skillful approach to life than the one you may be currently using every morning, it probably is. Come try it out for a few weeks and see if daily meditation doesn't make a big difference to your life!

30 minutes of Mindful Meditation at noon!

Online event

Mindful meditation trains our minds to be aware of what is happening right here, right now by learning to "listen" to our bodies and attend to all stimuli with clarity and equanimity. We stabilize the mind and body and then, together with the breath, attend to physical, emotional, and conceptual sensations that arise developing clarity about both our inner and outer experience. This practice sharpens our senses and connects us to life. To register please go to: https://www.heightsmeditationyoga.org/daily-meditation-schedule-and-sign-up-sheet
