"Run for Montana's Future" -- a run/walk that benefits kids

I haven't put a "fun run" on the Meetup calendar for awhile, so here's a great little event that benefits local school kids in a few different ways. It is sponsored by the Montana Attorney General's office, local law enforcement, and a wonderful charity called the Angel Fund, which does phenomenal work for school kids from low-income families. Since Governor Bullock was attorney general when this event began, he and his wife, Lisa, usually participate as well.

The information on the race registration page doesn't do it justice! First, the registration fees buy athletic shoes for kids who might not go out for a team because they can't afford the specialized shoes. The group doesn't buy cheap shoes that will fall apart; they buy quality shoes for the specific sport.

Second, the partnership with law enforcement is intended to give kids a positive experience with the police. The officers are very involved in the process, such as delivering shoes to the kids. I attended a presentation about this event when I was on the United Way board, and the officers really seem to love it.

Bonus -- the entry fee is very reasonable and you get a running shirt. The link below provides more info and registration.

You aren't required to RSVP here on our Meetup site, but you can if you want... This is more for informational purposes. The run is 6k, which is a little less than 4 miles. You can run or walk, and I think dogs are allowed but I'm not positive. I'll be there and I hope to see a few familiar faces!
