• Weyerhaeuser Mansion Walk

    4224 N Mason Ave

Find a parking spot near 4224 N. Mason Ave. (We will meet on the corner of Mason and 43rd--across the street from the mansion). This is a little over 3 mile walk that starts down Mason. We turn left on Madrona and make a loop back up until we pass the mansion, cross the street, and turn right onto Stevens. Expect an amazing view of the sound and Vashon Island for a few minutes as we go down the hill and around to Verde. Left on Verde until we make another left at the Bethany church. Right on Stevens again, and we'll walk all the way down and through the roundabout (there are crosswalks). Then we turn right on 36th, right on Verde, left on 37th, left on Gove, left on 36th, left on Cheyenne, right on 37th until we cross the roundabout twice. Now we're by the water again. We walk along until we go through the hedge, and turn left on Madrona. Right on Stevens, right on 42nd, and left on Mason. Now we're back at the mansion, but we take one more stroll around the block (left on Stevens, left, then left again), and we're back at our cars with 3 miles under our belts. Whew. (Wipes brow)

    Rhododendron Garden at Point Defiance

We will meet at the Rhody garden.

  • Let's Meet and Walk at Point Defiance Park

    Point Defiance Park

We meet at 9:00 and start our walk by 9:07 or whenever all RSVPs have arrived. DIRECTIONS Take N. 30th St. up to Pearl. Turn right on Pearl and enter park. We will enter Point Defiance Park at the Pearl St. entrance. Please park in that main parking lot, and once we are all there, we will drive up into the park, stop at a trailhead, and walk a 4.5 mile loop. It is beautiful (with water views, etc.). Kelly is in a brown Buick Encore. POINT DEFIANCE PARK As the largest urban park in Pierce County, the network of roads and trails weaving through the forest preserve provides a quiet retreat for joggers, cyclists, and hikers. There are many hiking trails along Point Defiance's cliffs that have sweeping views of Vashon Island, Dalco Passage, Gig Harbor, and the Tacoma Narrows Bridge. The road network also passes by Fort Nisqually. HOW IT WORKS: If Kelly Pagano is not signed up for this walk, it probably won't happen. She is in a brown Buick Encore. Typically, if there are five or fewer attendees, we all get in Kelly's car to drive up to the trailhead. If you would prefer to follow in your own car, that's fine too!
