- Let's Walk the Proctor Neighborhood
*** Be sure to RSVP if coming, and if you cannot make it, please change your RSVP to a NO since we wait for everyone before we start walking. Thank you! *** WHAT MAKES PROCTOR SPECIAL? For over 100 years North Proctor Neighborhood has been the heart of Tacoma's North End. A vibrant, charming, pedestrian neighborhood that welcomes visitors year round. Enjoy the tree lined streets and explore one of a kind shops and restaurants. HOW FAR WILL WE WALK? We've mapped out a 3 1/4-mile walk with an optional cafe break around 3/4 of the way. WHERE WE MEET AND PARK This is a neighborhood where we meet, right on the corner of N Junett & N 26th Street. There is plenty of parking. We try to arrive at 9:30 and start walking as soon as all the RSVP ladies have arrived or at 9:37, whichever happens first. https://www.google.com/maps/place/N+26th+St+%26+N+Junett+St,+Tacoma,+WAemail@example.com,-122.4768797,17z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m5!3m4!1s0x549054fbb4ce61c1:0xa875bf07245bfb34!8m2!3d47.271036!4d-122.474691
- Let's Meet at Chamber's Bay...then Walk!
Use the main entrance to Chambers Bay Golf Course and follow the signs to The Meadows (don't park in upper lots). We'll meet at the entrance to the meadows (to the left of the lower parking lot -- toward the bathroom, and dog park). Brie is the host. This walk is about 3 miles.
- Let's Walk Schuster Parkway from Chinese Garden!
*** Be sure to RSVP if coming, and if you cannot make it, please change your RSVP to a NO since we wait for everyone before we start walking. Thank you!*** We try hard to all arrive at 9:15 a.m. and start walking as soon as all the RSVP ladies have arrived or at 9:22 a.m. whichever comes first. We walk about 3 1/4 miles from the parking lot and back again. For security reasons, be sure to put anything of importance in the trunk of your car before leaving home, not when arriving at the parking lot. Hope to see you there.
- Let's Hike the Trails at Tacoma Nature Center!
We will meet in the parking lot of the Visitor Center. Dottie has a little, red Prius, and Kelly drives a brown Buick Encore. Be sure to see who's signed up before you expect to look for those particular vehicles, though. This walk ends up being almost 3 1/2 miles. There are some hills, hopefully some good turtle sightings, and lots of trees. It's a great walk and takes place every other Thursday. The meeting time is between 9:00 and 9:07. If you are not there by 9:07, we will start walking without you. Please change your RSVP if you have signed up for a walk you cannot attend. Also, be sure to make sure someone else is signed up for the walk besides you so you don't show up to walk the trails alone. Thanks!
- Let's Meet and Walk the Gulch!
• What we'll do We will park across the street from Katie Downs Restaurant. Once every one is there or by 9:32, we will walk under the train bridge and into the gulch. We will come to a set of stairs, and we will climb those, then walk down 31st until we get back to Ruston Way, where we will head back to our cars. Should be about 3 miles. • What to bring I always think it's good to bring a backpack with water and whatever else you might need. • Important to know Restroom availability along Ruston later in the walk.
- Let's Meet and Walk at Point Defiance Park
We meet at 9:00 and start our walk by 9:07 or whenever all RSVPs have arrived. DIRECTIONS Take N. 30th St. up to Pearl. Turn right on Pearl and enter park. We will enter Point Defiance Park at the Pearl St. entrance. Please park in that main parking lot, and once we are all there, we will drive up into the park, stop at a trailhead, and walk a 4.5 mile loop. It is beautiful (with water views, etc.). Kelly is in a brown Buick Encore. POINT DEFIANCE PARK As the largest urban park in Pierce County, the network of roads and trails weaving through the forest preserve provides a quiet retreat for joggers, cyclists, and hikers. There are many hiking trails along Point Defiance's cliffs that have sweeping views of Vashon Island, Dalco Passage, Gig Harbor, and the Tacoma Narrows Bridge. The road network also passes by Fort Nisqually. HOW IT WORKS: If Kelly Pagano is not signed up for this walk, it probably won't happen. She is in a brown Buick Encore. Typically, if there are five or fewer attendees, we all get in Kelly's car to drive up to the trailhead. If you would prefer to follow in your own car, that's fine too!
