Calling all those who are ready to give back! As Gandhi said: "Be the change that you wish to see in the world." I started this group for folks 21 and over specifically for volunteering with a not-for-profit organization called Feed My Starving Children. I want to rally up support for what they do because I really believe they have gotten it right. Through donations they have created a really cost effective way to make nutritious meals consisting of vitamins, veggies, soy, and rice for starving and malnourished children in some of the poorest countries around the world. The meals are packed by volunteers and prepared for shipment.
Our events will be held at the Schaumburg location. Although this is a Christian based organization, they welcome volunteers of any faith, and non-religious.
If members want to attend with their children that would be fine as long as they are 5 years and over which are the organization's guidelines.
Disclaimer: I do not work for the organization Feed My Starving Children, I am just a volunteer looking to encourage more people to support the meal packing events.

MannaPackTM Rice Overview
From its beginnings, Feed My Starving Children (FMSC) has worked to develop a food mixture that would be easy and safe to transport, simple to make with only boiling water, and culturally acceptable worldwide.
With the input of scientists from major food companies in the Twin Cities area—including Cargill and General Mills—FMSC developed MannaPackRice, a formula consisting of:
1. Rice, the most widely accepted grain around the world. 2. Extruded soy nuggets, providing maximum protein at lowest cost. 3. Vitamins, minerals and a vegetarian flavoring to give growing children the critical nutritional elements they need. 4. Dehydrated vegetables for flavor and nutrition.
Meals are just 22 Centseach. Just $80 feeds a child for an entire year!
Of 600 million meals shipped, 99.96% have reached the hungry children it was meant for.
FMSC’s efficiency ratio is 92% (of total donations directly supporting our feeding program vs. administration and fundraising costs).
Only 2% of charities we rate have received at least 8 consecutive 4-star evaluations, indicating that Feed My Starving Children outperforms most other charities in America,” said a letter from Ken Berger, Charity Navigator’s President & CEO in early February 2013.
