Meditation and Buddhism Drop in Class - beginners welcome
All are welcome including total beginners, and people who know nothing about meditation or Buddhism. Just RSVP yes, and turn up on the night. A drop in class open to anyone wanting to find out about Buddhism and learn how to meditate or who wants to deepen their knowledge or practice. Each week is self contained and does not rely on having to have been to the previous weeks, so you can start attending at any time even if you have missed the previous ones. We usually get between 15 and 30 people each night, including two or three people here for the first time who know nothing about meditation or Buddhism. We get people from many other sources than meetup including Facebook, Google and word of mouth. So do not be put off if meetup only shows 2 or 3 people coming, as there will be a lot more people coming. It is also suitable for seasoned meditators to come and practice and explore with us. The classes will be very friendly, welcoming and a lot of fun. There will be a tea and biscuit break half way through, so there will be a lot of opportunity to make new friends. We don't charge a fee but instead ask for a donation towards our costs. A suggested amount is £5 per evening. The course is held at our usual venue of the Millbridge Rooms (opposite Hertford Theatre). ( Each evening will start very promptly at 7.30 pm, so best to get there between 7.00 pm and 7.15pm. We are affiliated to the Triratna Buddhist Community, where the emphasis is on the teachings of the Buddha and the application of those teachings to your daily life. It's down to earth and immediately usable. We teach two meditations, mindfulness and loving kindness. We normally have a talk or discussion, and we always have a tea break in the middle. You will be given full instruction.
