What do you hope to get from this meetup?

I have made a lot of good friends from this Hertford group, and it has really helped my meditation practice, just to sit, talk, listen and discuss with the others here. Plus it is a very pleasant way to spend a Tuesday evening.

How did you find us?

I actually found out about the Hertford mediation group from an old flatmate of mine from back in the eighties. He knew Rob, and told me what he had managed to create here in Hertford.

Anything else you would like to say?

Buddhism is a very practical way of opening up to a deep spiritual life, without having to believe any dogma or submit to a guru. It is all about opening up to, and exploring the depths of our mind, heart and soul through various practices. You absolutely do not need to take on any belief system. You just try out a scientific spiritual path, observe the effects (eg happiness, fulfillment, joy), and decide whether you want to practice more.

Please describe any experience meditating (if any), or if you follow, or have followed any spiritual path

I first went to a Triratna Buddhist group back in 1981. Since then at various times I have been really into this. Sometimes I gave it up for a year or two, but I always seemed to get pulled back into it, as I realised it really is the best path I have found for happiness, especially when combined with all the Buddhist practices and community. I also tried a whole load of different Buddhist, Hindu, therapy, and other groups. Many of these have been very helpful, but I decided that the one I personally like best is this one.

Hi there, I organise the Tuesday night class. I also update our website and Facebook page.

What Keith is saying about this Meetup Group

Was a great place to meditate, and meet like minded people.
