What we're about

The Hi-5 Twin Cities group is for LGBTQIA+ and same-gender-loving persons who are living with HIV and who live in the Minneapolis/Saint Paul metro area. (Requests to join the group are processed M-F from 9-5 pm only.)

About the name: The name Hi-5 is code for letters H-I-V to reclaim the disease and dismantle disease related stigma through social support of others living with HIV/AIDS. The Roman Numeral V is translated to the mathematical number 5 in our group name to create "Hi-5 Twin Cities." For those who aren’t out about their HIV status, the name is our way to talk about who we are without people knowing our status. (i.e. “restaurant reservation for Hi-5 group”)

The group is a peer-led supportive network moderated by the Positive Link (http://www.JustUsHealth.org/PositiveLink) program of JustUs Health (http://www.justushealth.org). Participants are encouraged to plan or suggest activities of interest to them and connect with other HIV+ individuals socially and build ongoing social support systems to deal with stigma, risk reduction, treatment adherence as well as advancing health/wellness of people living with HIV/AIDS.

Anyone is welcome to attend events that are designated GUEST as long as they attend with a member of the group; however, only individuals whose HIV status has been verified or employees of JustUs Health can be members of the group and attend all group events.
