High Tea Honeys Summer Love & Hutt City's best kept secret

Samantha H.
Group Organizer
Wellington, NZ
Welcome to February Honeys and welcome to this beautiful warm summer weather, what a great way to start the rather eventful month we have ahead of us!
February sees the introduction of 'Pick the Flick.' This will be a monthly 'at home' movie night where we get together to watch a girly flick with popcorn, wine, (tissues sometimes maybe) and other treats. First up is 'The Great Gatsby' at my place. I have started a discussion forum for movie suggestions for the next one which you can find atboards/thread/41356332 and if you are interested in hosting a Pick the Flick evening, please message me.
On to other events, join us and relax to the sounds of some of Wellington's finest musicians at the Dowse this Thursday night, there are a couple of spaces left for High Tea at SweetPea on the 15th of Feb, Maureen will be escorting a group of lovelies to the Craft & Quilt Fair (http://www.craftfair.... Palmerston North on the 22nd Feb (this looks amazing by the way, just saying!) and we will be checking out Firefly Cinema's Drive-in cinema to see '10 Things I Hate About You', starring the late Heath Ledger (sigh) at Trentham on the 23rd of Feb.
For events coming up in March, the 'Beauty & the Honeys' afternoon has been super popular and we are still on the hunt for a Hair Stylist or two for this so if you know (or are) anyone who might be keen, please contact me ASAP.
We are getting together for a Crafternoon on the 2nd of March, this is a relaxed afternoon where we can give that craft project we haven't touched for ages some tender loving care. I've got a cross-stitch that hasn't had much attention since I bought it and you might have a knitting, sewing, card-making or other project suffering a similar fate - come along, take some time out for you, I'll put the jug on, tune in to Radio Swing Worldwide (more on this further down) and recharge.
On the 9th of March, we are heading back down to the driving range to have the charmingly professional, Dean Kingsbeer teach us how to swing a golf club like a pro. This is the perfect opportunity to learn, totally un-intimidating and incredibly hilarious. The ladies who came last time still talk about it now so don't miss this one.
For events coming up in April, we already have brunch over the hill in Greytown scheduled and stay tuned for information about a Belly-dancing class, Antique roady and potentially a Clay Workshop. I am super keen to host a jam making afternoon but I have never made jam in my life! Are you a closet jam making goddess and would love to showcase your skills to a small group of women? If so, please let me know and we can chat about making it happen - I'll supply the scones and cream
Our schedule is FULL ON I know, but isn't it wonderful? We are having heaps of fun and forming some amazing friendships with people we wouldn't otherwise have the opportunity to meet - as one of the High Tea Honeys reviews states, it really is a 'whole lot of awesome.'
If you have made it this far, you will want to read on because I am just about to tell you about one of Hutt City's best kept secrets...
A somewhat impromptu visit to Stonestead Devonshire Teas after the 'Eat, Drink & Be Crafty' fair last month was absolutely amazing. I felt like I was in a place somewhere between my grandparents’ house and the 1920’s. In the uniquely understated cottage we drank beautiful tea (highly recommend the 'Christmas Tea') and devoured delicious scones straight from the oven with a good dollop of homemade jam and cream. Kevin has a gorgeous collection of china too, some of which is for sale...this was like High Tea Honeys heaven. There is a reason he has 5 star reviews... (http://www.menumania.....
Another uber-wonderful thing I want to share with you is Check out the radio station 'Radio Swing Worldwide' and stream hits from the 1930's and '40s straight through your browser...perfect housework, crafting or entertaining music, simply delightful.
Nearly there, a couple of last things...
I just want to say that I am thrilled about all of the new Honeys that have joined us over the last couple of weeks so I extend a huge, warm, welcoming, hug to you all and can't wait to meet you in person at an event soon. You'll arrive to our events as a stranger and leave as a friend
For all Honeys that aren't aware, the High Tea Honeys are on Facebook and you can find us here at You will find, and can share, event photos, information about other activities that are happening in the Hutt City area and will be able to connect with friends you meet at events this way so it's worth checking out.

Lastly, for your daily dose of loveliness, I do keep a blog of lovely things I stumble across, you can find this here at
That's all from me for Feb Honeys, lot's of Valentine's love going out to all of you this month,
Warmest wishes until next time,
Sam xx
