What we're about
This group is for anyone who is a highly sensitive person. Let's get together to have fun and to offer friendship and support to one another. Not sure if you are a HSP? Take a Self Test, at hsperson.com. HSPs tend to over-analyze situations and feel more, often being overly affected by other people's moods and/or external stimuli because they pick up more sensory information than 80-85% of the population. Can you relate? Activities may include meditation, hikes, dining out, group discussions, etc.
Dr. Elaine Aron, who has studied Highly Sensitive People for over 20 years, says that the trait is normal, innate (15-20% of most or all animals from fruit flies to primates share this trait), HSPs are more aware than others of subtleties (HSPs pick up more information than non-HSPs), HSPs are more easily overwhelmed (since they notice more).
The hsperson.com website states, 'Many HSPs are often unusually creative and productive workers, attentive and thoughtful partners, and intellectually gifted individuals. According to Dr. Aron, HSPs could contribute much more to society if they received the right kind of attention - and her national bestseller proves that this 15 to 20 percent of the population is eager to get off on the right foot in asserting their unique personality trait.'
Filling out the questionnaire is required to join this group.
