What we're about

Hello! My name is Deborah Orandon, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in Portland Oregon and have been working with highly sensitive people for over 30 years in my movement, massage and counseling practices. (Please visit: http://www.selfawarenesscounseling.com/ to get to know me a bit better.) Discovering Dr. Elaine Aron’s Highly Sensitive Person work over 20 years ago, and honoring my own sensitivity, was a turning point for me in being able to move my life toward balance. And I'm excited to share this gift by sponsoring the Highly Sensitive People of Portland, OR Meetup Site.

I've included some more information about the trait of High Sensitivity, here: http://www.meetup.com/Highly-Sensitive-People-of-Portland-OR/about/

My hope is that together we can empathize, share, witness, nurture and cultivate our sensitive selves while forming connections and community. Please feel free to share your ideas for locations and types of meetups, resources for HSPs, tips and information.

I look forward to meeting you and helping this community inter-connect so that we can lend each other support in making the most of our sensitive natures.

HSP Support Circle

Greg Jesser's home

This meetup is a support group for those identifying as highly sensitive to come together and share issues and solutions in a safe, nonjudgmental space. Although this is not therapy, it can be therapeutic to be heard and listen to others. Our goal is to better understand our traits, share our experience with other HSP's and move beyond feelings of not fitting in and the belief that we are somehow “broken” to a personal empowerment which benefits us and our world in profound new ways. Because of the nature of this group and limited meeting space, it will be necessary to RSVP each week you wish to attend. HSP meetups are always scent-free

Grounding Journey

Tualatin Hills Nature Park

Grounding Journey is a unique opportunity to come together with other HSP's and renew our connection to the Mother. This will be our second Grounding Journey at Tualatin Hills Nature Park. It's a hidden gem, easily accessible by car or by TriMet with a station right there. The walk is level and paved partway. Check it out at http://www.thprd.org/parks-and-trails/detail/tualatin-hills-nature-park. There are loops of varying distance making this accessible for all fitness levels. Grounding Journey is open to all who wish to come. Guests are welcome. Entrance is free. Please RSVP so we'll know how many to expect. Parking is limited so car pools are encouraged. It's a nature preserve so unfortunately dogs are not allowed.

Forest Park Grounding Journey

Newton Road Trailhead

Come join your old and new HSP friends at our second Summer 2019 Grounding Journey, this time into the lush green of Portland's amazing Forest Park. We will be following the Newton Road Trail from the Newton Road Trailhead. Find location and directions here: https://www.oregonhikers.org/field_guide/Newton_Road_Trailhead. Hiking distance: the trail loops back to the parking lot after 3.7 miles over moderate terrain. Those who wish may hike further. There will be an optional stop at McMenamin's in NW to refuel and socialize after the hike. Open to all who wish to attend, including guests. There is no charge for this event. Thanks to member Erin Latta for organizing this Grounding Journey.
