HSP Greater Chicagoland Sharing Circle
All Highly Sensitive Persons (HSP) and "HSP curious" are welcome attend our informal sharing circle to learn, share, and grow in understanding as an HSP. Come when you feel drawn to come- no ongoing monthly commitment. We gather in one of the two upstairs meeting rooms at the Rogers Park Library on the north side of Chicago. The #22 Clark bus stops very nearby. Due to the sensitivities of some members kindly refrain from wearing cologne or perfume. There is no charge but a voluntary donation of a few dollars helps defray the cost of Meetup's monthly fee.

What we're about

Are you easily overwhelmed by such things as bright lights, strong smells, coarse fabrics, or sirens nearby?

Do you get rattled when you have a lot to do in a short amount of time?

Do you make a point of avoiding violent movies and TV shows?

Do you need to withdraw during busy days, into bed or a darkened room or some other place where you can have privacy and relief from the situation?

Do you make it a high priority to arrange your life to avoid upsetting or overwhelming situations?

Do you notice or enjoy delicate or fine scents, tastes, sounds, or works of art?

Do you have a rich and complex inner life?

When you were a child, did your parents or teachers see you as sensitive or shy?

If you answered yes to most of the above questions, you may be a Highly Sensitive Person. In The Highly Sensitive Person: How To Thrive When the World Overwhelms You by Dr. Elaine Aron, we learn that characteristics many of us were brought up thinking were "weird" or "wrong" actually impact 15-20% of the population. This group will allow HSPs in Chicago to talk and meet each other in casual, comfortable settings - "the HSP way to party!" (Aron, 113).
