High Noon Trail is a 5.1 kilometer moderately trafficked out and back trail located near Black Diamond, Alberta, Canada that features a great forest setting and is good for all skill levels. The trail is primarily used for hiking, walking, nature trips, and bird watching and is best used from March until October. Distance: 5.1 km Elevation Gain: 188 m Suggested gas share: Suggested gas share: $20 per vehicle. Food: water, lunch/snacks, Protection: hat, bear spray, bug spray, sunscreen, sunglasses Equipment: microspikes, ski poles, walking sticks, bag for your wet boots & change of shoes Clothing: layered polyester clothing (no cotton no jeans), Hiking boots (protect your ankles), extra pair of socks, rain coat COMMON COURTESIES: Please remove yourself from the *attendance list or the *waiting list if you are not able to attend this event for any reason. Prairie Mountain, Prairie Creek and Powderface Creek Trail Loop is a 15.0 kilometer moderately trafficked loop trail located near Kananaskis Improvement, Alberta, Canada that features beautiful wild flowers and is rated as difficult. The trail is primarily used for hiking and trail running. Dogs are also able to use this trail.
The purpose of this meeting is to determine interest in a hike, XC ski and/or snow shoe to Elk Lakes Cabin on December 7-8. We will be getting together at my office in Marda Loop where I will do a quick slideshow of previous trips and answer any questions. The Trip Details This was one of my most enjoyable and memorable overnight experiences and I am looking forward to sharing it with you! If you cannot attend this meeting, but are still interested in going, please contact me directly. Distance: 9 km each way Elevation: +200 m then -200 m We will get up early on December 7 and carpool to the Elk Pass Parking lot and hike, ski or snowshoe to the Elk Lake Cabin where we will enjoy a tasty potluck, stay overnight and then return in the morning. This event is for 12-14 people who are reasonably fit and can snowshoe and/or XC Ski reasonably well.
Here are the details about the Elk Lake trip on December 7-8, 2019. I have rented out the entire cabin, which means that there are 14 spots available. This trail climbs on an old fire road for 4.9 km before it crosses a meadow and reaches West Elk Pass. We will continue into British Columbia and the Elk Lakes Provincial Park (BC Parks). The Alpine Club of Canada's Elk Lakes Cabin (alpineclubofcanada.ca/facility/elklakes.html) is located 4.3 km from the Alberta/BC border. We will hike, ski or snowshoe in at a relaxed pace, looking to arrive at around 3:00 pm.
