Rockwood Hall - OCA
This evening hike will include a section of the Old Croton Aqueduct and a loop around Rockwood hall. It will be ~3/4 miles long and will be taken at a fast pace. The terrain is easy with a couple of small hills. The park has some wonderful views of the river and the surrounding hills, and foundations of the hall still remain.
Potluck mini mid hike picnic - we will stop mid hike for a short (10/15 min) picnic snack with views of the river, bring something to share with the group that can be carried in your backback.
Terrain: Easy, mainly level with a few slopes.
Distance: ~ 3/4 miles.
Dogs: Friendly, well behaved dogs are welcome, but should be on a leash. Owners should find out and respect the rules of the park, and follow requests made by the organizers. Please make sure you bring water for your dog.
What to bring and wear: Wear sneakers or hiking boots. Bring water, insect repellant, a headlamp/flashlight may also be useful although we plan on being out by dusk.
Meeting location: After turning into River road from Route 9, enter parking on left (indicated as Clearview school parking)
I will be monitoring the weather prior to the hike and if conditions are not good the hike is subject to cancellation. Please make sure to check your email/site prior to leaving for the hike, cancellation notices will be sent prior to 5 pm if required.
