Come to explore the trails as well as learn/practice trial recipes. We will be hiking short loops or out and backs. Bring your own dinner, cook at the halfway mark. This group is intended for people that want to get in shape, lose weight, cook outdoors.

Aman Park Hike for your Dinner

Aman Park

We will have a freezer bag cooking demonstration. There will be 3 backpacking stoves on display as well as for use. Dish preparing will be: Shepherd's Pie. Instructions. In a pint freezer bag: 1 Tbsp freeze-dried corn 1 Tbsp diced dried broccoli 1 Tbsp diced dried bell peppers 1 Tbsp freeze-dried green beans 1 Tbsp “beef” TVP, freeze-dried hamburger or cooked and dehydrated hamburger 1 1/2 tsp tomato powder 1/2 tsp Italian seasoning 1/2 tsp onion dehydrated 1/4 tsp garlic dehydrated pinch cayenne pepper pinch salt In a pint freezer bag: 1/2 cup Idahoan brand 4 Cheese instant mashed potatoes Also take: 1 ounce cheddar cheese. FBC method: Add 1 cup near boiling water to the potato bag, stir well and put in a cozy. Add 1/3 cup near boiling water to the sauce bag, seal tightly and put in the cozy as well for 15 minutes. Fluff up the potatoes and top with the sauce. Serves 1 Feel free to bring meals of your own as well. I will try and have a few extra servings if someone wants more than just a sample of the backpacking meal of the week. If you want a full meal please let me know and I will bring one along for a modest fee to cover the cost.
