This 10 mile hike with nearly 500m of total ascent over the day makes a great scenic workout. Warm up with a flat but fast walk from Guildford station along the peaceful River Wey. Then ascend into the Surrey Hills along the North Downs trail in to woods, along rivers and passing the lovely Chilworth manor. You will then work up an appetite climbing the steep but rewarding Saint Martha's hill. Lunch will be at a cosy warm pub on the Tillingbourne River. The menu includes many localy sourced items ranging from £7 to £22. After lunch we go back up hill toward Newlands corner and then back via the Pewleys Downs. You should be back at Guildford Station just after 4 pm. As always this group will be hiking at a brisk pace and making the most of the hills. Be prepared for a few sections of muddy and slippery trails. Not suitable for slow paced or new walkers. Bring it on!
