New Meetup: Fall Color Hike in the Chippewa NF

Announcing a new Meetup for Hike the North Country Trail in Minnesota!

What: Fall Color Hike in the Chippewa NF

When: Sunday, September 19,[masked]:00 PM

Where: 2nd NCT Woodtick Trail Crossing
Forest Route 2107 GPS:[masked],[masked]
Hackensack, MN 56452

Hikers should meet at the second crossing of the NCT on the Woodtick Trail. To arrive at the starting point take HWY 371 south of Walker for seven miles, turn left (East) on the Woodtick Trail (sign says FR2107) and travel east for two miles to the second crossing of the North Country Trail.

The hike will feature two new boardwalks built by the Chippewa National Forest crews that keep hikers out of the mud as we walk around two beaver dams in the forest. Fall colors should be on full display and no doubt after all the rain of the past few weeks there should be an abundance of fungi on display. The hike will be three miles long, two miles from the second crossing of the Woodtick to the first crossing, then one-half mile north through the Woodtick Fields to the second beaver dam and back to the first crossing. Hikers will then be transported back to their cars. Hikers should bring layered clothing, carry water and a snack.

Questions? Contact Jerry Trout at[masked] or [address removed].
