Announcing a new Meetup for Hike the North Country Trail in Minnesota!

What: Joint ITM & LLC Chapters' End of Season Celebration event

When: Saturday, October 23, 2010 5:00 PM

Where: North Point Lodge
17765 St. Hwy 34
Park Rapids, MN 56470

Come out with your friends and celebrate the end of another very productive field season on the NCT in northern Minnesota!

During 2010, approximately 8 new miles of North Country Trail were completed in Becker and Clearwater Counties. Additionally, a couple of trail bridges/boardwalks were built, several new backcountry campsites were added in Hubbard and Becker Counties, a couple of trailhead kiosks were installed at new trailhead parking areas, and a lot of trail maintenance work was completed. We
also hosted a lot of fabulous hikes and events reaching many new people.

All this work is in large part due to the awesome contributions (both large and small) of Itasca Moraine and Laurentian Lakes chapter members and those “friends of the North Country Trail” who help out. We are also thankful for funding from the Minnesota DNR, National Park Service, and local sources as well as the excellent work provided by the Conservation Corps of Minnesota.

2010 was certainly a great year for the North Country Trail. Let’s celebrate our accomplishments together as we look forward to an even better 2011!

Event Schedule:

Social time @ 5:00
Dinner @ 5:30 (order off the menu)
Brief chapter meeting @ 6:45, and
A slide show about a recent NCTA group hike of the Border Route Trail from 7:30- 8:30pm.
