Details

The Hollywood Sign is in Griffith Park above Los Angeles.

The trail will be about 16 miles as the crow flies...

Allow for about 6 hours 'n change...

It is NOT for absolute beginners.

Read the complete write up...

If it rains... dust storm, water spout, etc... the deal is off.

Also, if you show bad form by signing up for two dozen different trails on the same day & time; only to pick the best one that suits you, while taking limited space away from someone who really wants to go: Don't waste my time or yours by signing up.

There are a lot of paths to choose from... So, the herd should stay together; as much as possible...

Unless you know how to follow the yellow brick road & choose the right paths...

There may be sudden and frequent stops for print making along the way...

Wear comfortable clothing (come in costume, if you like) and a hat.

Without cloud cover, there isn't much shade.

Tennis or good trail shoes will be fine for this pilgrimage.

Also, bring 3-4 quarts of water and something to chew on...

CHEW TOYS:

Peanut Butter Cups or See's Chocolate See Gars are more than acceptable to bring and chew on !!!

Do not chew on your nails or anyone else's for that matter. It is considered bad form & should be avoided.

Also, it is not recommended to chew on or eat one's own hat or anyone else's for that matter (see nail description above).

Do not sink your fangs into anyone's' neck.

We'll stop at Mt. Hollywood where there is a nice view over looking the Griffith Observatory.

From there, we will continue on to Mt. Lee & the Hollywood Sign.

After, we will walk down the Easter Trail to the chamber of commerce turn out for prints & a full view of the sign.

From the sign vantage point; we'll go to the Bat Cave that was used in the original Batman Series.

After the Bat Cave, we will press on to the observatory for a brief visit.

Leave your 8 track players at home.

There will be plenty to hear in the surrounding area... work the crowd and talk to others in the group...

I will hear your confession, as necessary...

However, you will have only about 10 minutes to complain about work, politics & current affairs... then that's it.

Do NOT push selling soap or real estate on the group.

GETTING THERE:

Hwy 134/210 east or west; take hwy 5 south and exit Los Feliz Blvd.

Stay in the right lane and turn right on Crystal Springs Drive.

Drive about 1 mile 'n change and then turn left at the stop sign (there will be a merry-go-round sign in front of you, on your left). This is "Fire Road" and does not have a street sign.

You will also see a wooden post fence; follow the road around into the car park.

Hwy 5 north:

Exit Griffith Park & turn right at the stop sign.

Drive about 1 mile 'n change and then turn left at the stop sign (there will be a merry-go-round sign in front of you, on your left). This is "Fire Road" and does not have a street sign.

You will also see a wooden post fence; follow the road around into the car park.

THE CHEAP SEATS:

There are necessary facilities just beyond the carousel and "should" be open...

PARKING:

There is plenty of parking at the car park.

We will meet at the car park, by the south carousel path, at 6:45 am and start at 7:00 am, on the snout.

Do NOT bring your dogs, cats, canaries, drama, +1’s or other pets.

No whining, sassing or throwing looks.

Rules of the road & proper etiquette:

Walking, up hill has the right of way; downhill yields to uphill.

Runners, yield to all walkers & horses.

Bikes, yield to all walkers & horses.

Horses have right of way on all accounts.

Showing off:

Getting to the top first or being the fastest on the trail: no one cares.

It's about the experience, scenery & friends...

Straying from the purer faith:

If you decide to go off on your own: you will be on your own.

Let someone know should you decide to bow out early...
