Ontario Peak is above the cities of Upland and Claremont.

This trail is NOT for beginners.

It is an intermediate + trail.

Our rate of travel will also be intermediate.

The length of the trail is about 13 miles 'round trip. Allow for about 6-8 hours to complete.

Bring a camera, there is a lot to see !!!

Also, there may be sudden stops for prints...

Make sure to bring plenty of water, at least 3 quarts, more if you like, and something to eat.

Wear good trail shoes or boots. Also, bring a hat.

Our first short break will be at Ice House Saddle, which is about 3 1/2 miles from the trail head.

From there we will continue the last 3 miles to Ontario Peak.

On a clear day, from the trail & peak, we will have views of the valley and coastal islands.

From hwy 210 east or west: exit on Mountain Ave. and turn north towards the mountains. Follow Mountain all the way to 'the mountains'.

When you reach the top of Mountain Ave., there is a stop sign. Watch for oncoming traffic.

Turn right on Mt. Baldy road and follow it for about 8 miles.

Drive through Mt. Baldy Village.

About a mile passed the village you will come to Ice House Canyon, there is a sign. It is just before a sharp left turn that is the beginning of the hair pin switch-backs. Drive straight and park in the lot.

We will meet at the trail head at the top of the car park at 8:30 am. (If I get out of work late, then we will meet a bit later.)

A wilderness day or annual pass is required to park in the lot.

Pets are required to be leashed at all times.

Most pet owners seem to think this rule does not apply to them.

Do NOT bring your dogs, cats, canaries, drama, +1’s or other pets.

No +1's or extra guests. If you want to bring a friend, local or long distance, just have them join the club.

This is an "at your own risk" event on lands accessible to the general public.

By joining this event: YOU are responsible for your conduct and safety and agree to free the event organizer, Mt. San Jacinto Hiking Club, any other agents and organizers associated with the club and this website from any and all liability.
