Sky Meadows Park has become a popular destination for families and more experienced hikers alike. We are going to hike the 5 mile circuit that heads uphill on the South Ridge to the North Ridge Trail and Appalachian Trail (AT). We meet at 7:30 a.m. at the back of the Harrisons Crossing Home Depot at (5771 Plank Rd, Fredericksburg, VA 22407, directly in front of Salsarita’s Restaurant) to coordinate carpool and leave promptly to arrive at the trailhead by 9 a.m. Suggested contribution to the driver to cover the cost of gas and wear and tear on car is $5 per person.
Be sure to watch the weather forecast, dress appropriately and bring plenty of water and snacks. Hiking shoes are preferred. Never wear cotton during heavy exercise, cotton can get soaked, making it clingy and uncomfortable. Wear clothing made of wicking material, which pulls moisture away from the body to keep you dry and comfortable.
