What we're about

In short, we will do hiking, kayaking and visiting trails around the Charlotte area as well as state parks such as Crowders Mt., Stone Mt. and Hanging Rock, etc. But at a slower pace. And no one gets left behind.

Kayaking 🚣🏻‍♂️ at Kevin Loftin Boat Dock

Kevin Loftin Riverfront Park

Please READ the entire post 😉 Especially 2.) ******************************* >>> Rentals are not available for this location, however, you CAN RENT THEM from Tailrace Marina and just paddle down to meet us. Message me BEFORE you RSVP if you plan on doing this. <<< This is a great paddling spot. However, I will mention that while I've never had any "rules" in our outings prior, I will have a few "strong recommendations" going here. 1.) Life Jackets are strongly advised >>> It's a huge body of water, there are boats and waves, and well, ya just never know. >>> Also, if you have a whistle, bring it! If folks start to get behind or something happens, we don't want to leave you!! Give a quick whistle so we can catch you up or help you out. =) 2.) VERY IMPORTANT >>> This will be a continuous paddling outing <<< While our strolls at Goat Island in Cramerton have been quite leisurely, and slower folks tend to fall behind (though still with a buddy), I will say that it is imperative we stick together in a group so plan on a FASTER continuous paddle for the entire outing (pretty much). If you know you paddle slowly or have a kayak that is slower, this may not be the outing for you. Be courteous to the group, if you know you're going to lag behind, please join us at the Goat Island in Cramerton events or a smaller body of water so you can practice more. =) 3.) Skill Level: All >>> while this is still my 1st season kayaking, I am by no means advanced and this was a fine outing for me. There are boats and other craft that WILL cause waves (don't freak out, lol). We will be sticking to the sides and out of the way of boats, but we will still encounter waves. I don't want to freak people out, it's not scary by any means, but if you've never encountered them, there's a learning curve (very minimal). After a boat or two, the waves are fun, promise. =) >>> PARKING: We are actually going to the BOAT DOCK to put in, not the park. Check out google maps prior to going to check out the location, it's right off Wilkinson (I did miss the entrance the first time and had to whip a u-turn...ugg)....there is a (Citgo?) gas station right where you need to turn. It may be busy with boat traffic so if need be, we will put in and then go move cars, we'll figure that out when we get there. That's it...this will be fun. Looking forward to seeing everyone! Thanks, Kathy =)

Hiking 🥾 at Crowders Mountain

Crowders Mountain State Park

** Free Event ** LOCATION: Sparrow Springs access and visitor center 522 Park Office Lane Kings Mountain, NC 28086 Once we get there we will assess everyone's trail experience and decide which trail to take. It seems the "easy trails" are 2 different short loops which are only .8 miles each....we may do a "moderate trail" depending on the comfort/skill level of the group. Please bring your water packs, snacks, etc. Wear layers as I'm sure it will be chilly when we get there but will warm up once we start hiking. I would like this to be a "hiking" event, not a 'nature walk' so please wear appropriate shoes/attire and bring walking poles if you need/have them. Looking forward to seeing everyone! Message me for questions. Thanks, Kathy =)
