The distance is now 12 miles. And the gain has increased to 4000'. We are still starting at Colby Canyon trailhead. Now ending at Red Box with a 4 mile car shuttle between the two. CARPOOLING is recommended at 7:30 AM at the La Canada Sierra Club rideshare on the Angeles Crest Highway just north of the 210. Nearest cross streets are Flanders Rd and Milmada Dr. Then head to Colby Canyon where everybody can be dropped off. We can then have about eight/ten drivers drive up to Red Box and bring two cars back.
Bring bug spray. Nothing biting, just annoying. Strawberry Peak. Join us for training hike #2 of the Seven SoCal Summits hikes, a 12 mile round trip with 4000 feet of gain to Strawberry Peak (6,164 feet) in the Angeles National Forest. DIRECTIONS:
Meet at the Colby Canyon Trailhead on the Angeles Crest Highway. Go north on the Angeles Crest Highway (SR 2) 0.8 miles past the junction with the Angeles Forest Highway to a large dirt parking area on your left. Adventure Pass required to park at trail head.
