Because of the Lakes Fire in San Bernardino, we are changing our 5th SoCal Summit hike to Mount Baden-Powell. So join us for training hike #5 of the Seven SoCal Summits, a 16-mile round trip with 5000 feet of gain to Baden-Powell (9,399 feet) in the San Gabriel Mountains. The hike is entirely on the Pacific Crest Trail, its highest portion in Southern California, with numerous views as we walk to the ridge line to the peak.
Meet at the Islip Saddle Trailhead, 39 miles on the Angeles Crest Highway (mile marker 64.1). From La Canada Flintridge go 39 miles on the Angeles Crest Highway to the Islip Saddle trailhead in a parking lot on the left about 5.5 miles past the Buckhorn Campground. Adventure Pass required to park at the trailhead. To reduce the number of cars at the trailhead parking, the Adventure Pass requirement, and to save the 39 mile trip, there will be a carpool leaving one hour before the hike from Angeles Crest Highway and Milmada Drive in La Canada Flintridge.
