Josephine Peak 13.5 miles. 2000' gain

Join us for the second hike of the seven summits series. Each month the hikes get longer, steeper, and higher. Perfect training for summer hikes and backpacks in the Sierras or just to get into awesome hiking shape. This month: Josephine Peak (5558’). Moderately paced loop hike over a well maintained trail and fire road. Excellent views of Strawberry Peak and Big Tujunga Canyon. Short car shuttle required.

For carpooling, MEET 7:30 AM in La Canada on Angeles Crest Hwy (Hwy 2) and Milmada Dr, Just N of Foothill Fwy (I-210). This is a neighborhood street. Or MEET AT THE COLBY CANYON TRAILHEAD at 8:00 AM on the Angeles Crest Highway (hwy 2) approx 10 miles from carpool point. Go north on the Angeles Crest Highway 0.8 miles past the junction with the Angeles Forest Highway to a large dirt parking area on your left. If you get to red box you've gone too far. (Red box is the intersection of Angeles Crest Hwy and Mt Wilson road. There is a red box on the corner. )

We will car shuttle approx 4 miles from Colby Canyon to Red Box Canyon to begin the hike. The hike will END at Colby Canyon.

No beginners. Adventure pass required to park. Bring 3 liters water, lunch, snacks.

This hike sponsored by the Wilderness Adventures group of the Sierra Club.
All participants will sign a Sierra Club liability waiver at the trailhead.
