Announcing a new Meetup for Hiking and Exploring with Friends!

What: Glacier Series: Blanca Lake/Columbia Glacier day hike
When: Sunday, August 14,[masked]:00 AM

Where: Blanca Lake Trailhead
Nat for Dev Road 63
Skykomish, WA

Hello Hikers,

Went to Blanca lake last year. It was incredible. One of my favorites. Blanca Lake sits at the base of the Columbia Galcier, which flows between Columbia, Monte Christo, and Kyes peaks. The trail statistics look for a really nice day hike with what should be some awesome views.

1900' - 4000' - 3.5 miles ( one way)
Max peak at 4600' about a half mile from the lake
Total elevation - 2700'
Green Trails #143 - Monte Cristo

WTA Trail Description

Trail head

From Everett head east on US 2 for 49 miles to the small town of Skykomish. Continue east for 1 more mile, turning left onto Beckler River Road (Forest Road 65). The pavement ends at 6.9 miles. Continue north for another 8 miles, and just after crossing the North Fork Skykomish River, come to pavement and a junction. Turn right onto FR 63 and drive 1.8 miles, turning left into the trailhead parking area (elev. 1900 ft).

07:00am - Canyon Park park&ride <- click for map
09:00am - Blanca Lake trail head
11:45am - Blanca Lake (allocate an hour at the lake)
02:45pm - Blanca Lake trail head
04:45pm - Canyon Park park&ride

Hike times are guesstimates. 4mph flat, 2mph up, and 6mph down.

Rain Policy

Getting wet sucks. Bring rain gear. Unless it is raining so much that it's like walking at the bottom of a pool, then I'll make attempts to complete the hike. Challenge your spirit!

Hot coffee, tea, cocoa, and soup is available at the lake for lunch. I usually bring something to share for a picnic. Bring your essentials. Let's get out in it.

Check it out!
